U.S. eighth-graders have improved their performance in science marginally since 2009 and a rise among black and Hispanic students' scores has narrowed racial achievement gaps, according to a report released on Thursday.
In 2011, two-thirds of students performed at or above a "basic" achievement level on the science assessment test, suggesting at least a "partial mastery of the knowledge and skills needed for proficient work," according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as The Nation's Report Card.
I think it's weird that there's a story about racial test scores...I mean I'm half black but that don't mean I'm dumb. Other than that the post story was cool. Kids are apparently getting smarter...though it seems to me there getting dumber. (The story is below.)

I read about the U.S eighth-graders and it talked about how they do in certain subjects and it even said that the teachers are not preparing the kids for college! It talked about people being not happy about it.My reaction is i think in some schools kids are not learning what they need to learn and some schools are not preparing kids for college!I think it was a good story but i think it is something to be taken serious!
I read about the chimp that was making elaborate plans to attack humans. In this article it talks about this chimp that used to throw rocks at visitors that annoyed him, after a while he became smarter and hid the rocks under hay so no one could know.
I read about how a NASA scientist and a archeologist found a extension in the myan calendar and it goes on for millions and trillions of years later so we wont even be alive when the world decides to end.
I thought this was very interesting and I would love to learn more about this subject. I would love to learn more about the vesta and about the dawn exploration.
I read about the Mayan excavation and it was pretty interesting they found a lot of old drawings and writings. Many of the pictures had something to do with the stars and tells many facts about them that the Mayans only knew at the time. They would write on their wall like chalk boards always learning new stuff. This article was cool and I wouldn't mind learning a little more.
